Smallville - Episode 10.01 - Lazarus - Look whose coming back
None other than John Schneider is set to return to the series in Season 10, reprising his role as Clark's adoptive human father, Jonathan Kent.
Obviously Jonathan's return raises some questions, given that the character died back in Season 5. I can't reveal yet the how and why of Jonathan's appearance, but I can tell you that we'll see him in the season premiere, entitled "Lazarus."

Psych - Nestor Carbonell Joins Cast for Multi-Episode Arc
‘Psych’s Shawn Spencer (played by James Roday) will meet his match – and then some – when ‘Lost‘ alum Nestor Carbonell joins the USA Network series for a multi-episode arc, Fancast has learned exclusively.
Carbonell has been cast in the role of Declan Rand, a criminal profiler who over the course of two episodes will shape up to be Shawn’s professional – as well as romantic – rival.
So savvy is Declan at what he does, I am told, that Gus (Dule Hill) will dub him “Shawn 2.0.” Gus!
How will Shawn react to being one-upped by this “upgrade”? Or might Shawn 2.0 be harboring a few… glitches?
Prior to playing ‘Lost’s ageless Richard Alpert, Carbonell enjoyed roles on such TV series as ‘The Tick,’ ‘Strong Medicine’ and ‘Suddenly Susan.’ His big-screen credits meanwhile include ‘The Dark Knight.’
Season 5 of USA’s ‘Psych’ premieres on July 14.

True Blood Renewed for Season 4 by HBO!
LOS ANGELES, June 21, 2010 – HBO has renewed the hit show TRUE BLOOD for a 12-episode fourth season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Created by Alan Ball, the series will begin production of new episodes early next year in Los Angeles, with debut set for summer 2011.
“The new season of TRUE BLOOD is off to a terrific start, as enthusiasm for this unique show continues to build among both subscribers and critics,” noted Lombardo. “We’re looking forward to more chills from Alan Ball and his gifted team next year.”
“I am beyond thrilled to be able to continue working with this amazing cast and crew,” says Ball. “This is the most fun I have ever had.”
Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, TRUE BLOOD takes place in the not-too-distant future, when vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source. The show follows the romance between waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, and her boyfriend, 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), who went missing at the end of season two, and is now the object of a frantic search. Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy®-winning HBO series “Six Feet Under”) created and executive produces the show, which is based on the best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.
The 12-episode third season of TRUE BLOOD, which launched June 13, has already inspired critical raves, with Entertainment Weekly calling it “faster, sleeker, more vicious, more fun than it already was,” as well as “summer’s best TV.” USA Today hails the show as “fabulously wild,” while the Washington Post describes it as “electrifying.”

Dexter - New Season 5 Casting Spoiler
April Lee Hernandez has landed what I’m fairly certain is the last new recurring role of Dexter‘s upcoming fifth season. The actress — best known for her supporting work in ’07′s Freedom Writers and as Nurse Inez on ER — will play a new cop (presumably) working in Miami Metro’s homicide department.Source: EW

Fringe - Season 3 Casting Call for Altlivia's Mom
Thanks to Paul for the heads up.
It looks like Olivia’s going to be stuck “over there” for a decent chunk of time when Fringe returns this fall. I say this because the search is on for an actress to play her alterna-verse mom for a four-episode arc. The deets…
Olivia’s Mother: Described as lovely and together, Mama D. loves her daughter very much and is even more devoted since she lost her other daughter in childbirth. Seeking a Caucasian actress in her 50s or 60s.

Undercovers - Casting News - Mekia Cox Cast
Cox will replace Jessica Parker Kennedy on the highly anticipated J.J. Abrams series. She'll play Lizzy, the younger sister of the female lead, who is unaware of her family's involvement in the CIA.
Mekia was most recently seen on The CW's "90210" and in the Michael Jackson documentary "This Is It." She's repped by Global Artists Agency and A Management.
"Undercovers" is produced by Warner Bros. and Bad Robot and is considered one of NBC's frontrunners in the fall.

Dexter - Southland Star to Guest in Multi-Episode Arc
Dexter - Southland Star to Guest in Multi-Episode Arc
Shawn Hatosy is making a pit stop in Miami before returning to Southland: Sources confirm to me exclusively that Hatosy has booked a multi-episode arc on Dexter.
A Showtime rep declined to divulge details on his character, but a recent Dexter casting call may offer a clue: The drama was seeking a thirtysomething actor to play the recurring role of a no-nonsense FBI agent.
After completing his Dexter arc, Hatosy will head immediately into production on Southland‘s 10-episode third season.
This marks the second major piece of casting for Dexter‘s upcoming fifth season. As I reported last month, Julia Stiles is also joining the cast as a mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter.

More Musical Tributes
“The Madonna episode was so popular, I think I’m gonna do two tribute episodes — one in the fall and one in the spring — and we’re figuring out who those artists are.”
New Characters
Murphy already let it slip that Susan Boyle might be appearing but he and producers are also looking to add some new members to the club, including a boyfriend for Kurt. “I just want him to be an everyday dude,” says Murphy. “And I want him to be sort of struggling [with his sexuality] and Kurt helps him deal with it and in the process they fall for each other.” Also look for a potential love interest for Mercedes and a Carrie Underwood-esque, Christian country singer who will be a rival to Rachel. “When people hear we’re going to do that, they will expect that we’re making fun of her,” says Murphy. “We’re not. The show is about inclusiveness and about giving voices to a lot of people.”
A Major Season Finale
“I know that season two ends with Nationals in New York. I don’t know if they’ll make it — we haven’t figured that out.”

Glee - Season 2 Casting Update - John Stamos to Recur?
When you’re watching tonight’s season finale of Glee, and Emma mentions that she’s been dating her dentist, go ahead and draw yourself a mental picture of… John Stamos!
Yup, I hear the Fox hit and the actor formerly known as Uncle Jesse are nearing a deal for him to recur next season as Will’s competition for the cutest neurotic at McKinley High.
And if the agreement gets made, bet on a sing-off between her two suitors: Though Stamos is best known for his TV roles, he’s also got street cred on Broadway, having appeared in such musicals as Bye Bye Birdie.

Dexter - As Expected Julia Stiles Joins the Cast
As several sources reported last week, actress Julia Stiles has now officially joined the cast of Dexter for Season 5.
She has been confirmed for 10 of the 12 episodes, Stiles plays a "mysterious" women that forms a unique relationship with Dexter after the death of his wife Rita.
Here is a portion of the press release:
Called "one of the most fearless and talented actresses in Hollywood" by the Los Angeles Times, Julia Stiles has starred in three Shakespearean film adaptations: HAMLET, O, and TEN THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU, for which she earned a 2000 MTV Movie Award for Best Female Breakthrough Performance and the Chicago Film Critics Award for Most Promising Actress. Other feature film credits include, THE BUSINESS OF STRANGERS, opposite Stockard Channing, SAVE THE LAST DANCE, for which she was nominated for two MTV Movie Awards, and David Mamet's STATE & MAIN. She starred opposite Liev Schreiber in THE OMEN, opposite Julia Roberts in MONA LISA SMILE and opposite Matt Damon in the Bourne trilogy: THE BOURNE IDENTITY, THE BOURNE SUPREMACY and THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM.
One of the most acclaimed series on television, DEXTER stars Michael C. Hall (Golden Globe(R) and SAG Award winner) as a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department who moonlights as a serial killer. The show has received both multiple Emmy(R) and Golden Globe(R) nomination for best television drama series as well as a prestigious Peabody Award in 2008 and was twice named one of AFI's top ten television series. The show also stars Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Valez, David Zayas, and James Remar.

Ausiello: Remember Trinity’s family? As exec producer Sara Colleton reminds us, “They’re very much alive. And they will surely be telling the FBI about this guy named Kyle Butler who just came into their life and was there at odd times of the day.” In other Dexter news, Julia Stiles is officially on board for season 5. I’m told her deal closed on Tuesday.

Undercovers - 10 Spoilers from ScifiWire
Thanks to Tim for the heads up.
1. Abrams feels the need for speed: In a note to the reader, the authors admit that the script is long but feel that it shouldn't be judged by something as arbitrary as page numbers. "The pace of the series is intended to be unusually, almost unspeakably, fast." In fact, they go on to write "imagine scenes MOVING LIGHTNING FAST."
2. The script opens with action. Spy Leo Nash is being chased by three darkly dressed armed men wearing faceless opaque masks. Through the chase scene we discover that the bad guys speak Russian. Leo appears to know who's coming after him, and he calls someone and leaves a message telling them "CALL. YOUR MEN. OFF." and "My offer is real."
3. A computer file is key to the mystery. During the chase scene, Leo transfers a file to a "SHINY TOY ROBOT THUMB DRIVE" and hides the thumb drive when he believes the gunmen are about to catch up to him.
4. When it comes to our heroes, she's tightly wound, he's more laid back: Samantha and Steven are retired spies who are married and own a not-so-successful catering business. She's the chef, he's the business man. She nags at her slacker sister, Lizzy, who works for her in the business. Steven says, "If we were a nonprofit we'd be very successful." When we meet them they are preparing to cater a wedding.
5. Carlton Shaw, aka the cynical CIA agent: Shaw approaches them to return to the spy business (and he's appropriately played by Gerald McRaney). According to the script, "Shaw could gut you faster than you could soft-boil an egg." He tells them he's been with the Agency for 32 years.
6. Steven's spy bio: According to Shaw ... "Steven Bloom, Los Angeles native, UCLA graduate, joined Central Intelligence in '97, following your brother, who's been with us since '89. You've been stationed in Korea, France, Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, you've run six major-board operations in Europe and Asia. Expertise: combat, cryptography, communications and security tech. You now oversee the business end of a catering company."
7. Samantha's spy bio: According to Shaw ... "Samantha Bloom, born Samantha Gilliam, New York City, attended Columbia on scholarship, Language Studies. Played lacrosse, rowed crew, job with the UN week after graduation -- the Agency had an eye on you, with a year, we'd recruited, trained, and sent you undercover to Europe. Four years you worked eleven countries, then a three month mission in the Middle East. Skills: burglary, disguise, translation. And today ... you're a chef."
8. It all involves something called Operation Black Swan: "An ongoing mission to find and capture Alexander Slotsky. Weapons dealer, blackmarket ..." Leo Nash was running the operation on his own when he went missing. Samantha was the last agent to work with Leo on Black Swan, and Steven trained with him at "The Farm."
9. Our heroes get pulled back into the business: They are unable to resist one more mission either because they want to help Leo or due to a Shaw speech about patriotism or for the lure of spy excitement.
10. They have a cute "large mutt" of a dog named Waldorf: Enough said.
