Psych - Nestor Carbonell Joins Cast for Multi-Episode Arc

‘Psych’s Shawn Spencer (played by James Roday) will meet his match – and then some – when ‘Lost‘ alum Nestor Carbonell joins the USA Network series for a multi-episode arc, Fancast has learned exclusively.

Carbonell has been cast in the role of Declan Rand, a criminal profiler who over the course of two episodes will shape up to be Shawn’s professional – as well as romantic – rival.

So savvy is Declan at what he does, I am told, that Gus (Dule Hill) will dub him “Shawn 2.0.” Gus!

How will Shawn react to being one-upped by this “upgrade”? Or might Shawn 2.0 be harboring a few… glitches?

Prior to playing ‘Lost’s ageless Richard Alpert, Carbonell enjoyed roles on such TV series as ‘The Tick,’ ‘Strong Medicine’ and ‘Suddenly Susan.’ His big-screen credits meanwhile include ‘The Dark Knight.’

Season 5 of USA’s ‘Psych’ premieres on July 14.

Thanks to Sam for letting us know that episode 5.01 will be called "Feet, Don't Kill Me Now."

Psych - Renewed for Season 5

"Psych" will be sleuthing for another year.

USA Network has renewed the crime comedy for a fifth season with a 16-episode order.

"Psych," starring James Roday as a fake psychic with great observational skills and Dule Hill as his best friend and partner in their police consulting business, was a breakout hit for the network when it launched in July 2006 as the highest-rated USA series debut.

The series, from Universal Cable Prods. and creator Steve Franks, has consistently delivered solid ratings, especially in the younger demographics.

" 'Psych' just keeps getting better and better," said USA president of original programming Jeff Wachtel. "Steve, James, Dule and the entire team keep us laughing and keep the audience coming back for more."

"Psych" will face a challenge in January when the second half of its fourth season will run for the first time without its formidable lead-in, "Monk," which is wrapping its eight-season run in December.

USA is still finalizing its scheduling plans for January, but "Psych" is rumored to return with original episodes Jan. 29 and remain in its Friday 10 p.m. slot.

Franks is executive producing "Psych," whose fifth season is expected to premiere next summer, with director Mel Damski and Tagline's Kelly Kulchak and Chris Henze.

The cast of the show also include Corbin Bernsen, Timothy Omundson and Maggie Lawson.

Heroes Sendhil Ramamurthy to Guest Star on Psych

Heroes Sendhil Ramamurthy to Guest Star on Psych

Yes, sources confirm to us exclusively that Sendhil will be appearing on the USA Network detective comedy Psych in an episode titled "Bollyhood Homicide," which is tentatively slated to air the fourth week of the season.

But who does Sendhil play, and what surprising family tie made this possible?

As it turns out, Heroes star Sendhil Ramamurthy and Psych director Jay Chandrasekhar are cousins, and they are both appearing in "Bollywood Homicide."

Sendhil is set to play Raj, a young man who believes that the firstborn in each generation of his family is cursed—a belief reinforced by the fact that bad things keep happening to all of his girlfriends. Jay, meanwhile, plays Jay, Raj's cousin who is directing a Bollywood-style play at the local theater and engaged to be married. Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (DulĂ© Hill) are on the case, of course, trying to determine who's actually cursed and/or who's going after Raj's girlfriends. The real Jay is directing the episode just as his fictional counterpart is directing the local theater's Bollywood project.

We're also hearing that the Psych theme may get a Bollywood-style remix just for this episode.

"Bollywood Homicide" doesn't have an exact airdate yet, but Aug. 28 seems likely. Psych returns to USA for season four on Friday, Aug. 7 at 10 p.m.

Any Psych fans in the house? Who loves Sendhil Ramamurthy? Make yourself heard in the comments!
