Fringe - JJ Abrams on New Writing Team for Season 2

Fringe - JJ Abrams on New Writing Team for Season

Kelly in Houston: I read on Twitter that the entire Fringe writing staff was replaced except for show runner Jeff Pinkner. True or false?

When we asked Fringe cocreator J.J. Abrams about this he told us, "There's been a massive influx of strange new faces with incredibly talented brains who are replacing many of the previous, equally talented brains in that room. There are some who are the same talented brains; there are some talented brains who have nothing to do with last year. Like any show, there's a rate of attrition that sort of just happens, but I have to say, the Fringe writing room—I was there yesterday—it was electric. On fire. Great ideas. Fun. So I was thrilled about last year, and I'm equally if not more excited about this year." So, change is coming to Fringe, but don't panic.

24 - Season 8 Casting Update

T.J. Ramini, who played Yaniv, the Israeli boot camp instructor who got Gabby into shape on ABC's "Desperate Housewives" this past season, has joined Fox's "24" as a recurring.

He will play Tarin Karoush, an associate of the Middle Eastern leader played by new series regular Anil Kapoor.

Brit Ramini, who also co-starred on the long-running U.K. cop drama "The Bill," is repped by Pakula/King and manager Brian Ferrantino.

LOST's Jacob Joins Cast of Supernatural

LOST's Jacob Joins Cast of Supernatural

Mark Pellegrino's career is on fire. Literally.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the actor -- who was unmasked as Lost's enigmatic Jacob at the end of last season -- is joining the cast of Supernatural as none other than the Prince of Darkness himself, Lucifer.

Lucifer was released from hell in Supe's season finale last month, although we never caught a glimpse of the little devil's face. All of that will change when Pellegrino debuts in the show's Sept. 10 season premiere.

So, does this mean we've seen the last of Jacob on Lost? An ABC rep couldn't be reached for comment, but here's a potential clue: Pellegrino isn't joining Supernatural as a full-time series regular; his status is listed as recurring. You do the math.

24 - Leaked Call Sheet Confirms Season Start Time

Thanks to SpoilerTV for this image of a call sheet for episodes 3 and 4 of Season 8 of 24 that reveals which hours will be covered in those episodes as 6PM-8PM, confirming that the premiere will start at 4PM in the afternoon.

RUMOR: Smallvlle Movie Scheduled for 2010!?

RUMOR: Smallvlle Movie Scheduled for 2010!?

If this is hoax, it’s a good one, as it comes with a few bits of convincing detail we are not sharing with you.

Someone has written us, claiming to have gotten a glimpse of some signage being prepared for next month’s “Smallville” presentation at Comic-Con. His or her description:

On black, with crimson/red text in the same font lettering that Smallville uses, and a transparent grey Superman "S" watermark behind the text:

METROPOLIS

CHRISTMAS 2010

Then at the bottom is a banner advertising the Smallville presentation, with the time/place (can't remember).

Other info this untested source sent us suggests "Metropolis" is a movie-length project, and not a new series.

Word is “Smallville” will conclude its 9-year run May 2010, so it makes sense that the CW would tack on a couple more production hours up there in Canada to make a Superman TV-movie that would run seven or so months after the series’ conclusion.

But what if Tom Welling isn't putting on the red cape for the small screen? It doesn’t seem like 18 months is enough time to slap together a big-screen "Smallville" sequel, but I also seem to remember Warner Bros. kicking the first three episodes of “Clone Wars” to cinemas without a lot of notice.

This comes from an untested source, self-described as “Yoda’s Bitch,” so kindly take it all as rumor.

Supernatural - Adrianne Palicki Returns for Season 5

This should take some of the sting out of Adrianne Palicki's impending Friday Night Lights departure: The actress has signed on to reprise her role as Sam's ill-fated ex, Jessica, on Supernatural!

As you know, Jessica was whacked by a demon in the Supernatural pilot. She reappeared at the end of season 2 during Dean's genie-granting alternate reality head-trip, but hasn't been seen or heard from since.

Details regarding Palicki's return engagement are being kept under lock and key, but this much I can tell you: She's booked for one episode and it'll air early in the season (but not the season premiere).

Smallville - Callum Blue Joins the Cast as Zod!!

The CW confirms that Callum Blue, a British actor you may know from the WB's short-lived Related or Showtime's Secret Diary of a Call Girl, has been cast as Phantom Zone baddie Zod for season nine of Smallville. Blue will be a regular next year. As previously reported, Smallville's other newbie will be Brian Austin Green as baddie Metallo.

Terence Stamp played the part in the 1980s Superman film series.

FlashForward - Plot Details from Producers

Here are some new details and spoilers about the upcoming first Season of ABC's FlashForward from the recent press screening.

Enjoy!!

FlashForward - Plot Details from Producers David S. Goyer and Marc Guggenheim

Dominic Monaghan: TV biz watchers have been tracking -- but will still not get confirmation -- on the rumors that the "Lost" casualty has been added to the cast. Goyer and Guggenheim declined to speak to the online speculation. "Obviously, we're not going to tell you that," Goyer said. "So much of the speculation is so . . . wrong; it's awesome."

Sonya Walger: Otherwise known as Penny, Desmond's beloved on "Lost." She plays Benford's wife, Dr. Olivia Benford, a series regular, but will it spell doom for Penny? Of course, no one's talking.

Seth MacFarlane: Yes, Seth MacFarlane, creator of "Family Guy," has landed himself a recurring role on the show as part of the FBI team working alongside Benford. Goyer said MacFarlane liked the script so much he "begged" for a part on it. Ditto "E.R." alumna Alex Kingston, who also appears in the pilot.

April 29, 2010: It's not much of a spoiler to say it's an important date on the show. The first season will build to this day -- but it won't be the finale.

A contained story:
Provided ratings are strong, Goyer said, the series could be completed in as few as three seasons or as many as seven.

You think you know the story they're telling . . . : But producers promise: You don't! After the first seven episodes, the rules will be established and will be so not what we were thinking. And that's all they're saying about that.

Advance planning in a post-'Lost' world: If anything, the producers were full of assurances that there would be no loose ends on the show. "By the end of the first season, we'll have caught up to their future and things will be resolved," Goyer said. In regard to the first 24 episodes, the fates of the 10 main characters have long been decided, he added.

Also, of note, Brannon Braga, who created the show with Goyer, will remain an executive producer, but will continue day to day as a co-executive producer on "24."
